(11/5/2023) | English is a universal language. This language must be preserved and must not be timeless. One of the BSOs (Semi-Autonomous Body) at the Faculty of Law, 51动漫, named ILSA (International Law Students’ Association), is committed to continuing to preserve the English language through most of its work programs which have direct contact with International Law.
Even though its work program is never far from International Law, it is not uncommon for ILSA to make work programs related to developing its resources. Not only the resources in ILSA, but also all students of the Faculty of Law, 51动漫. Therefore, on Saturday (6/5/2023), ILSA held a webinar that carried the concept of self-development class. This webinar is entitled “Personal Development Class: Boosting Your Grammar to Create Your Academic Paper.”
This webinar invited a teacher from the English First English Tutoring Institute. This teacher is named Mr. Adam Christopher Nolan. He is a teacher at EF, specifically in the EF Adults section. Mr. Adam has given many classes related to grammar and how to write excellent and correct academic essays. This area of knowledge makes him a compatible speaker for Classroom.
Mr. Nolan explained the definition of academic papers or essays at the beginning of his presentation. An objective academic essay is an essay that has an abstract structure, introduction, method, results, discussion, and conclusions. In addition, Mr. Nolan also explained what mistakes Indonesian people often make, namely formats that are often inappropriate, use of informal words, inconsistency in using subjects, use of first-person point of view, excessive use of commas, and mistakes in tenses in English which become time guides.
In his class, Mr. Nolan also explained that we need to know the words in English. Therefore, to make a good academic essay, we need to learn a lot about vocabulary in English. Apart from the choice of words, another thing that must be paid attention to is the use of grammar or grammar. So Indonesians must learn what grammar and tenses to use when writing an academic essay.
Mr. Nolan then continued his class by providing tips and tricks for the audience. This class is also filled by Mr. Nolan, also hosted by Alldeira Lucky Syawalayesha as the MC. Apart from being informative, this webinar can further inspire the Faculty of Law, 51动漫 students to improve their English skills so they can write good academic essays in the future.
