UNAIR Faculty of Law Basketball Team Wins Second Place in the 2022 UNAIR Rector Cup

Students of the Faculty of Law, 51动漫 (FH UNAIR) excel academically in law and make non-academic achievements in fields other than law, such as winning sports competitions, ambassador events, singing competitions, film competitions, and other competitions. One of the achievements outside the field of law that FH UNAIR students successfully won was through a basketball competition.

UNAIR FH basketball team is a team formed in early 2022. Even though it is new, the Eagles Law Basketball team has won 2nd place in UNAIR Rector Cup 2022. The team consists of Bintang Adia (2020), Reyhan Fathurrahman (2022), Azriel Athalla Maulana Rakhmawan (2022), Ghouva Syafii Al Ma’arif (2022), Muhammad Daffa Dzakiyya (2020), Admiral Favian Yudhisthira (2022), Muhammad Farrel Ardan Trimunandar Nasir (2022), Ahmad Naufal Firnanda (2021), Satria Kurniawan ( 2021), Sultan Samudra Pasha Rakaswara (2021), Donny Ardyansyah (2022), Ariel Emilio Susilo (2019), and Alvaro Rajendra Putra Rachmadi (2021).

In an interview with FH News on Monday (5/12/2022), Bintang, team captain and chairman of the Eagles Law Basketball Team, said the 2022 UNAIR Chancellor Cup was a university-level basketball competition where all faculties at UNAIR participated in the competition.

“We were up against approximately 10 teams because we were competing against all faculties. This is the first time our basketball team has participated in a competition because our team has just been formed,” said Bintang.

Bintang explained that for the 2022 UNAIR Rector Cup, there was an internal selection from the Eagles basketball team. They prepared for about two months. For practice, said Bintang, they practice about one at a time twice a week.

“Two months is not enough for preparation, but because most of us used to participate in basketball matches when we were at school, we already have the basics,” he said.

Bintang also shared their difficulties while preparing for the 2022 UNAIR Rector Cup. They had problems because their schedules needed to be in line. On top of that, one of their members also lives in the dormitory, so there is a curfew.

“Because we were busy studying offline, we sacrificed our evenings to practice. However, we also encountered difficulties because, apart from our parents. One of our members lived in the dormitory, so there was a curfew. For the training location, fortunately, there were no problems because we had agreed to practice in two different places,” said Bintang.

Bintang is grateful for his team members, including being relaxed in facing various obstacles during preparation. He and his team were also optimistic about their first official match because they had held several friendly games with other faculties at UNAIR, and the results were satisfactory.

“The point is we try to give our best for FH UNAIR,” he said.

In closing, Bintang gave tips and tricks to become a champion. According to him, orders from coaches must be followed. In addition, building trust between team members is also vital because basketball is a team competition.

“After practicing together, if possible, the portion of the exercise when at home is also added, especially if the practice is only one or two times a week,” concluded Bintang.
