UNAIR NEWS – Since Sunday morning (30/7), dozens of students and residents enliven the village hall of Kemloko Village, Nglegok subdistrict, Blitar regency.They were getting ready to follow the traditional dance and ˜Macapat™ poetry held in collaboration with the Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Humanities, 51¶¯Âþ and Kemloko Village.
The competition is a part of community service done by Department of Indonesian Literature as Higher Education Tri Dharma implementation.The village has been four years supported by the Department of Indonesian Literature FIB UNAIR.This commitment is run continuously by developing Kemloko Village through various activities.
Nasrudin Abdul Haris as the Head of the Committee would like to thank the team from 51¶¯Âþ who has chosen Kemloko Village as the implementation village.He hoped that the four year cooperation can continue with the development of other village potentials.
“This competition we held to preserve the traditional culture.Hopefully this could be a continuous cooperation , ” said Nasrudin.
Before the competition was started, one of the lecturers Drs.Tubiyono M.Si provide some information about the use of websites to promote the village potential.On that occasion, official Kemloko Village website was launched and it can be accessed through www.wisatakemloko.com.The page is managed directly by the Indonesian Department of Indonesian Literature for joint development.
All this time, Kemloko Village has a tradition of reading Ambiya verse done by the family who just has newborn.The readings of the ambiya verse were done overnight, with duration as requested by the host.
“The reading of Ambiya verse in Kemloko is remarkable.In contrast to other villages, it is read out altogether after the birth of a baby.Today it is read by old people.Hopefully in the coming year the community service can be done with participation of the young generation, ” said Dr.Dra.Trisna Kumala Satya Dewi, M.S as the lecturer of Research Methodology of Philology (MPF).
This community service was followed by students who take the concentration of Philology with MPF course.From year to year, the Department of Indonesian Literature routinely held the community service by involving students.
Competition of Macapat during the day was followed by most of the elderly.One of the participants, Sujianto (77) admitted his excitement to participate in the macapat competition.The retired teacher has five subordinates.They are usually invited macapatan when there are citizens who have newborns.
” Kawit alit pun remen. Panggah demen sampek saiki. Sebulan kadang-kadang ping pindho, kadang ping papat. Tergantung enek bayen apa enggak. (Since childhood has liked macapatan, until now, there can be twice in a month, sometimes four times. It depends on the birth celebration, ed),” said the man who performed Pangkur and Dandanggula for this competition.(*)
