UNAIR NEWS GOPRO (Productive Youth Progressive Movement) has been officially opened and promoted to youth in Community unit (RW) 3 Kebangsren, Surabaya by Veronica Kadista Putri with her Student Creativity Program (PKM), Sunday, April 2.
GOPRO is one of the PKM proposal in UNAIR funded by Dikti. With juvenile delinquency as the topic, GOPRO is expected to be a way to prevent juvenile delinquency as it is a serious problem faced by the young generation.
淛uvenile delinquency is deemed as role model of youth existence, not as social deviance. Therefore, we try to prevent it with a right method, said Veronica as the head of the team.
Furthermore, Veronica added that she and her team believed that this delinquency can be prevented if they have self control. That assumption made Veronica and her team to formulate some method which later can be used as activity reference.
淭he activities are Go-Religion, Go-Character, Go-Creative, Go-SmartNet, Go-Friendship. Those methods will be implemented through some events such as SENAR (Publicization and Seminar), BEDIL (Film Discussion), PERWIRA (Entrepreneurship Training), and JARITAN (Learning and Playing in Mangrove Forest), she explained.
Similar to Veronica, as a member, Humam also said that juvenile delinquency happens when the youth are idle, for example at weekends. At those moments, youngsters usually spend their time with unproductive activities.
淭he team agreed to determine Sunday as the day for the events, in the next three months, he stated.
The local community responded positively with these events. It can be seen from their enthusiasm during the opening of the activity. The participants were actually junior high school students but there were parents attending in the event. It was the right moment for the Youth Activist (Karang Taruna) to be active again.
淚t is the best moment for the Karang Taruna awakening, as it has been inactive for so long. Hopefully it can also create solid teamwork, said Yoga as the representative of Karang Taruna.
