Prof Bambang Irawan Works Preserving Species

UNAIR NEWS Prof. Dr. Bambang Irawan is a professor of Biology and Carcinology Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 51动漫 . He was born in Purwodadi Grobogan Central Java on April 5, 1955. Bambang started learning Biology in 1981 as a bachelor student of Biology in Universitas Gadjah Mada, in the end of his bachelor study, he conducted a research on birds in Progo river estuary, Yogyakarta.

In 1991, Prof Bambang continued his study in Ehime University master program, his thesis was about interaction of two crab species in term of their tolerance towards salinity and drought. His doctoral degree was done in 1994 in Tohoku University, Japan.

淲hen I finished my doctoral, my dissertation topic was related to estuary crab speciation mechanism, he said.

In 2013, Bambang was inaugurated as UNAIR FST Professor. His academic journey was full of experience and services. In 1982, he was an assistant in Faculty of Medicine (FK). Four years later, he became an expert assistant in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science which is now Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).

While he was a lecturer, Bambang also taught in Biology Department, such as in General biology, Molecular Genetics, Biosystematics, Carcinology, Abiotic Environments, Population Biology, Ecological Data Analysis and many more.

The professor affiliated in Indonesian Biology Association is also an author of books in Biology such as Lingkungan Abiotik jilid: Atmosfer, Hidrosfer, Litosfer (2015); Karsinologi dengan Penjelasan Deskriptif dan Fungsional (2013); Genetika; Penjelasan Mekanisme Pewarisan Sifat (2010); Teori dan Praktik Ekologi (2008); Genetika Molekuler (2008) and many others. In research, Bambang has his own research field, crabs, prawns and gecko identification.

淟earning Population Biology actually learning how a species population grows in nature which later can be used as guide to preserve the species through conservation policies, he explained about his field of study important roles.

Regarding carcinology, it is a field of study which studies all aspects of crustaceans. Based on his experience, Bambang knows a lot of kinds of crustaceans and their each movement is different in general and many more aspects interesting to study. (*)
