Promoting UNAIR UKM to be Driving Force for Achievements

UNAIR NEWS Beginning of the year is the best moment tfor students organization to regenerate their structures, even for the student clubs (UKM) of UNAIR. There were 84 students from 40 UKM taking parts in the training workshop held by Directorate of Student Affairs on Friday and Saturday, January, 20 and 21.

The workshop held in Royal Trawas Cottage was attended by head and secretary of all UKM in UNAIR. There were three new UKM participating in the workshop, UKM Tahfidzul Qur檃n, UKM Airlangga Aquatik, and UKM Pagar Nusa.

The secretary of university Drs. Koko Srimulyo., M.Si said that this briefing was held to involve UKM as strategic components to be a World Class University (WCU). Looking at the previous years, more than 50% of UNAIR students achievements were made through UKM.

Therefore, to make more achievements, the participants were given materials from the university officials. They were Secretary of University, Director of Student Affairs, Director of Facilities, Infrastructures and Environment, Vice Dean of Faculty of Vocational Studies, UKM supervisors, Student Affairs program sub division, and Coordinator of Interest and Talent.

淭he briefing was held to understand the vision and missions of university, so students in UKM can be the pioneers with morality, pride and make achievements for the university, said Koko.

In Wishnu Kencana Hall, the materials were presented one by one. They were expected to stimulate the organizations performance. They covered UKM involvement in UNAIR development, rules of using facilities and environment, planning and development of UKM through periodic work plan.

There was also a presentation on self evaluation reports, accreditation and re-accreditation, UKM development towards global competition, UKM as UNAIR character building, soft skill improvement strategy for interest and talent and FORKOM UKM roles.

Eko Setyo Widodo as UKM Citizenship Head said that the briefing is useful to stimulate students in making achievements in their own field.

淭his three days workshop are very interesting and I think that it is needed by UKM. Do not develop UKM through UNAIR but develop UNAIR through UKM. That is my principle as well as inspiration for 40 UNAIR UKM, said Eko. (*)
