UNAIR NEWS To keep the environment healthy is everyone檚 responsibility, including civitas academica of a university. The statement is proposed by the Chairperson of University of Indonesia (UI) Greenmetrics Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc, MM, in a presentation session in Kahuripan Hall 301, Monday (6/1).
The presentation about UI Greenmetrics was attended by a line of high ranking officials from UNAIR and its faculties, particularly who are responsible for the field of equipment, infrastructure, and environment, such as Vice Rector II Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin, Vice Rector III Prof. Ir. M. Amin Alamsjah, Ph.D, Director of Equipment, Infrastructure, and Environment Karnaji, M.Sos., and others.
In her presentation, Riri suggested keeping the environment healthy to be made part of daily habit. She mentioned that a healthy environment can boost learning spirit of the students and lecturers in a campus.
淭his is an effort for us all to do, to make it a habit, not merely filling in forms or questionnaires.听 Civitas academica, especially students, need to be a champion for a better environment, Riri said.
Riri continued by explaining that in UI Greenmetrics ranking, her party appraises the infrastructures and efforts a university has taken to consider it a green campus. In the appraisal, a campus will be assessed by six indicators namely infrastructure design (15 percent), energy processing and climate change anticipation (21 percent), waste recycling and water conservation (18 percent), transportation system (18 percent), and education on sustainable environment (18 percent).

The Director of Equipment, Infrastructure, and Environment Karnaji, M.Sos stated that his party has made some adjustments to take UI Greenmetrics Appraisal.
淭his year we build some indicators which might support the UI Greenmetrics Appraisal. Even since long before this, we have applied them. For example making water absorptions, planting trees, arranging areas for vehicles, saving energy, and using solar power, he explained.
Regarding the water absorptions making, he has made 54 absorption points from female student dormitory area, Faculty of Nursing, UNAIR Hospital, to the Faculty of Public Health.听 Each of the water absorption is one meter square wide and three meters deep.
To support the establishment of green area, he is going to involve the faculties to keep the environment. In terms of infrastructure design, for example, the faculties are going to arrange which campus area is needed for vegetation and which is for the parking lot. In terms of energy and climate changing, the faculties are going to use renewable energy. (*)
