Two Awards Won by FH UNAIR Students in Australia

UNAIR NEWS“ There is good news from Brisbane city, Australia.51¶¯Âþ delegation made an international achievement in 19th International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot (IMLAM) 2018 at TC Beirne School of Law, the University of Queensland, Australia, from June 29 to July 3.

In the event, twoawardswere won by team, The Sarah Derrington Encouragement Award and Overall Runner-Up Written Memoranda.The awardwas obtained after UNAIR defeated 28 teams of participants from various countries in the world.

In IMLAM event, UNAIR is the only Indonesian representative managed to make the achievement.In addition to UNAIR, other delegations from Indonesia are University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, and Padjadjaran University.

Act asspeakers were students of the Faculty of Law (FH), Regine Wiranata and Bima Danubrata Adhijoso.Meanwhile, Shofy Suma Nisrina, Indarwati Atika Shanti, and Auly Nahdyan Mafaza were the researchers.

The international achievement added other achievements made by IMLAM UNAIR team.Because, in 2017, IMLAM UNAIR team won as the Best Newcomer.

On a different occasion, Nilam Andalia Kurniasari, SH.LL.M, as thehead coach ofIMLAM team UNAIR expressed her appreciation to the parties who have helped the success of the team.She hoped UNAIR can make other achievements in the next IMLAM event.

“On behalf of IMLAM FH UNAIR 2018 team, I would like to express my thanks for the support of FH leaders, alumni, and all the academic communitywho have provided for us both morally and materially.Without such support, it is impossible for us to compete optimally, “said Nilam.

“The success ofIMLAM FH UNAIRteamis an inspiration for us to make more achievements in IMLAM next year which will be held in the Netherlands.We hope your continuous supports so we can gain reputation for the alma mater in the international arena, ” she added.

IMLAM is an annual international event for law studentsconcernedwith maritime law issues.This year is the 19th IMLAM and followed by 28 participating teams from top universities from 13 countries.

“The challenge isthatwecompete with universities in Australia who are already familiar with the law.We, from Indonesian university, have completely different legal system.If we are based on the law, they are based on the case, “said Regina.

“That’s ourchallenge.Through hard work, the team could get through and manage to make achievement in this event, “h se added.(*)
