UNAIR NEWS “I personally hope Mr. Joseph Donovan’s visit to 51动漫 can improve partnerships, not only in Education but also in Community Service,” UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak.
The statement was made when Prof. Nasih was receiving a visit from the delegation of U.S. Embassy to Indonesia led by the U.S. Ambassador itself Joseph R. Donovan on Wednesday, March 1. The delegation was received in Kahuripan Hall 301, Management Office Building UNAIR and welcomed by 51动漫檚 officials.
The visit was an opportunity to strengthen collaboration in Education between both countries. In this occasion, Prof. Nasih stated the UNAIR was appointed by the government of Indonesia to reach Top 500 World Class University. To achieve the target, international partnerships in education should be increased.
At the moment, collaborations have been established between UNAIR and universities in the U.S.A such as with Rhode Island University, Northwestern University, and Northern Illinois University. The collaborations established are in education and research such as student and staff exchange programs as well as collaboration in research and publications. Therefore, Prof. Nasih expected collaboration in community development between both countries.
The founder of community movement promoting health to mother and infants (Geliat) UNAIR, Dr. Ni Nyoman Anita Damayanti, drg., M.Kes, was also present in the meeting. She elaborated that she and her team of UNAIR academicians are developing a community to decrease mortality rate of mothers and infants during labor in Surabaya.
Donovan responded positively about the program. The man who was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia on September 28, 2016 said that there is important in the idea of saving mother and child檚 lives. Therefore, he would not be reluctant to support the community which has been collaborating with UNICEF since 2015.
Beside having a meeting with UNAIR officials, the Ambassador and the delegation also visited American Corner in the library of Campus B UNAIR and delivered a public lecture entitled淯nited States of America and Indonesia Partnership, Tackling Global Challenges with Global Education in presence of UNAIR students.
淚檇 like to express my gratitude for the partnerships between UNAIR and universities in the U.S.A. I am also grateful for establishing American Corner in UNAIR. It is a great facility for students or anyone who want to know about the U.S.A, said Donovan.
