UNAIR and National Taiwan Ocean University Sign Partnership MoU

UNAIR NEWS “ 51¶¯Âþ continuously establishes collaborations with universities from other countries. It is very important especially as an effort to improve the quality of education towards the international standards.

The President of National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) Prof. Ching-Fong Chang visited Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, S.E., MT., Ak., CMA., on Thursday, August 9 in the Plenary Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Management Office Building. In the meeting, the two parties signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for cross sector partnership.

NTOU is one of the campuses in Taiwan. It was established in 1953. NTOU has seven colleges, College of Maritime Science and Management, College of Life Sciences, College of Ocean Science and Resource, College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Ocean Law and Policy.

“In total, NTOU has 22 undergraduate departments, 11 postgraduate institutions, 27 master’s programs, and 20 doctoral programs,” said Prof. Ching-Fong in his speech.

In the MoU, the two institutions agreed to improve research collaborations as well as for exchanges of academic publications and student information.

The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at improving cooperation and collaboration between faculties, staff, and students, especially in terms of research and studies as well as enhancing the technological, social and cultural relations of the two countries.

There are four points of collaborations in the memorandum of understanding. First, the programs of student and faculty exchanges. Second, research collaboration. Third, postgraduate exchange programs. Fourth, executive development programs.

Director of Airlangga Global Management (AGE) UNAIR Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Drs., M.Si. in her remarks hoped that the visit made by Prof. Ching-Fong can be used significantly. Prof. Nyoman also presented some UNAIR programs related to marine sciences.

“In the near future, we have a plan for Marine Biotechnology and ANmicro workshop held by Faculty of Science and Technology,” she said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Nasih in his speech responded positively about the MoU. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by some deans. They also presented their faculty profiles and several academic programs. Hopefully, potential cross-sector collaboration with NTOU will be achieved, especially for the programs at UNAIR.

“NTOU is one of the best campuses in Taiwan. UNAIR continues to encourage quality improvement programs through this kind of collaboration,” he said. (*)
