UNAIR NEWSÌý“ÌýA student of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Amalia Kusuma Dewi succeeded in becoming the best writer in anÌýarticle competitionÌýtitledÌýRole of Technology TowardsÌýIndonesia 2045. The competition was a part of 2017ÌýAnnual International Forum On Economic Development and Public PolicyÌýby Ministry of Finance Indonesia.
The competition had three sub-topics, theÌýtraditional marketÌý,Ìýlabor marketÌý, andÌýdigital economy.ÌýAmalia wrote about theÌýdigital economyÌýon ”ÌýThe Potential of Modern Barter: Lesson from The Past, Implemented at The Present Time, For The Better Economy in The Future”Ìý.ÌýSelection was started with the submission phase, then ten winners were announced and they were Ìýinvited to Jakarta Convention Center to attend in some activities and conferences on Thursday-Friday, December 7-8.
“In this competition, I offered the idea of ‹‹reusing the old trading system (barter, ed) with the assistance of technology development.ÌýSo, the barriers that make people reluctant to choose barter can be resolved, “explained Amel.
Amel said that modern barter is simpler because it does not use intermediaries in forms of different currencies between countries.ÌýTherefore, the transaction is protected from theÌýdecreasing of value of money overtimeÌý.ÌýIt was more flexible for the exchange of goods and services, even goods with services.ÌýThe idea was inter-agency (Ìýbusiness or governmentÌý)Ìýor consumer to consumerÌý.
“Here, I propose a specialÌýconsumer to consumerÌýbarterÌýwithÌýmobileÌýmediaÌýapp.ÌýActually similarÌýCryptocurrencyÌýused by Trade Credit which increases when giving goods or services toÌýotherÌýusersÌý.ÌýIncluding the opposite, “added the woman born in Gresik, February 11, 1997.
Amel needed three days to work on it.ÌýShe must finish it fast because it was during midterm exam (UTS) and after that she had to go to India for an apprenticeship.
Amel shared her tip that we should not follow many prestigious competitions as long as it fulfill our needs and goals.ÌýMoreover, we have to use our time to study, college, and thesis for the process.ÌýSo, the time sacrificed will not be in vain.Ìý(*)
