UNAIR NEWS – Fire injuries can cause problems.It can lead to disability, loss of confidence, costly relief to healing / recovery, even in some cases causing death.On average, burn patients need immediate treatment to restore normal skin function.
Based on the problems, three students of Science and Technology Faculty (FST) of are Rasta Galih Aprizal, Erin Wijayanti, and Rahma Yunia Utami. Under Prof.Dr.Afaf Baktir, MS., guidance, they conduct a study to test herbal product for burns containing albumin from striped snakehead and physiological saline solution of 0.9%.
The success of the research was then written in the research proposal, and successfully passed the selection conducted by Dikti, so it is entitled to obtain research funding from the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) for PKM program in 2018.
Rasta Galih Aprizal, as the head of Student Creativity Program Team of Exacta Research (PKM-PE) field, explained that it can be concluded that giving 0.9% physiological saline solution to 2nd degree burn made it heal faster to a lab mouse than giving a mixture of striped snakehead albumin andbioplacentonasgold standard.
“The wound is considered to be healed if the wound getting narrow and the number of fibroblasts increases,” added Rasta Galih.
0.9% natrium chloride or normal saline is a physiological solution that comes from nature, and exists throughout the body.For that reason, there is no hypersensitivity from NaCl.Normal saline is safe for any condition (Kristianingrum, 2013).
