UNAIR Supports To International Performance

UNAIR NEWS“ The target of 51¶¯Âþ to the Top 500 universities as mandated by Kemenristek Dikti, is supported by internationalization.This step requires supports from various parties, including lecturers, students, and educational staff.

As a component of internationalization, Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) strives to make academicians of 51¶¯Âþ get various opportunities to perform internationally.

AGE also works as a bridge to promote the university.The goal is UNAIR can become a place for academics from various countries to study through various programs in UNAIR.

“To move towards internationalization, UNAIR will be more active in strengthening international network such as done by top-ranked officials by attending international meetings. It strengthens the position of UNAIR, “said AGE Executive Director Prof., Dr., Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih., M.Si.

Prof. Nyoman also added that to get academic recognition, then the scope of activities must be in accordance with standards set by QS World University Rankings.

“The activity is not just in a day or two, but it has academic meaning.There are standards in QS.If it does not enter the standard then we can not claim that the event is an international level event, “said Prof. Nyoman.

One of the conditions, for example with a lecturerexchange program, the length of the program is at least three months, both to teach and conduct research.

Not only UNAIR academicians are encouraged to join international activities, but the foreign academics are also encouraged to take academic programs at UNAIR.Prof. Nyoman said, one of the programs that attracted many foreign academics are programs related tofield tripandcommunity service.

“Community service is actually be an attraction to Indonesia.Developed countries enjoy following thefield tripandcommunity service, knowing the life of the developing community, “added Prof Nyoman.

In UNAIR, for example, there is AMERTA program, proposed by AGE, that applies credit transfer.To support theoutboundprogra, according to Prof. Nyoman, some students are limited financially.Therefore, in the future, AGE will support students to dooutboundwith their own funds.As for other students, fund assistance will still be given.

In UNAIR™s 63 years of existence, Prof. Nyoman hopes that the competitiveness of graduates will improve and they can pursue career opportunities, not only domestically but also abroad.

“The competitiveness of graduates should be better.Because our nation is big, if all thefocused only in the country, itwillnotbe enough.Go out and pursue career opportunities abroad, it’s our role to produce competitive intellectuals, “said Prof. Nyoman.(*)
