UNAIR NEWS“51¶¯Âþ and Transparency International (TI) Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on commitment to prevention and conflict of interest (PPKK) in college. The signing took place at Kahuripan Hall 4th Floor Campus C on Thursday (7/12) by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., Mt., Ak., CMA., and Secretary General of TI Indonesia Dadang Trisasongko.
UNAIR officers, representative of universities in East Java, and representatives of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) attended the ceremony. Including representatives of Hasanudin University (Unhas) and University of Andalas (Unand) as partner of UNAIR.
Prof. Nasih states, PPKK system which to be managed and developed in UNAIR is the procurement sector of goods and services. Including, the provision of human resources. According to him, conflict of interest was a complicated problem.
“We will push these two sectors. Therefore, conflicts of interest may affect both the process of return the decisions and policies. At once this will certainly cause many losses, “he said.
In previous years, Prof. Nasih, UNAIR made alteration related to the issue. One of them was the issuance of the rule that the academic community, both employees and lecturers, was not allowed to own the company. Moreover, the company was involved in events on campus.
“Any little thing is allowed. For example, a stall or a pastry business. Moreover, supporting campus event such as graduation. This is what we should clear, “he said.
“In addition, at UNAIR, there are no more recruitment processes, where the interviewer is his father or relative for example. This is what we continue to push forward to be gradually cleared,”he added.
Prof. Nasih stated that the effort must be conducted so that conflicts of interest can be managed as well as possible in the future. If it could be successful and running well, other processes will try to be explored and developed.
œFor the next, it could be not just the procurement of goods and services or the procurement of human resources. Other sectors are also potential to be explored, “said Prof. Nasih.
“In fact, if it needed the field of learning. To ensure everything is really running in accordance with the rules, “he added.
Prof. Nasih also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the parties such as KPK, TI Indonesia, and UNAIR partners. “Hopefully our institution can make Indonesia better in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dadang conveyed TI Indonesia is a global non-government organization established in Germany. That is, civil society organizations to prevent corruption. According to him, universities are very important to be part of the prevention and control of conflicts of interest.
“Do not just be a victim. Universities should be an important part in preventing and eradicating corruption. In the future, universities have a strategic role to participate in coloring the development of this nation, “he said.
“Hopefully this brings benefits to the development of our universities and Indonesia as a whole,” Dadang expressed
