Developing Preconception Nutritional Concepts Before Marriage

UNAIR NEWS– Sri Sumarmi, SKM, M.Si, lecturer of 51动漫 (UNAIR), developed a concept ofpreconception nutrition.The concept is a preventive effort in order to reduce the problem of anemia, pregnancy complication, Low Newborn Weight (LBW), and maternal mortality.

The woman knows better as Mamik, developed the concept in a system named Integrated Pre-Marriage Service (laduni).The goal is to save 1,000 First Day of Life (HPK).In order to save the critical period early in pregnancy, the program should begin in the preconception period.

As a pilot project, the lecturer of Department of Health Nutrition at Faculty of Public Health (FKM) UNAIR provides workshops and training to the laduni officers.The training was given to all modins at Tarik and Balungbendo Clinic, Sidoarjo Regency, on Tuesday, December 5 at Ganjarane Hidayah Restaurant, Sidoarjo.

“A healthy generation begins with a healthy preparation,” Mamik said.“In principle, this program invited mothers to be to try to improve health early.So when they are pregnant, they and their fetus are healthy, ” she added.

Laduni is a comprehensive service to prospective brides who are getting married.This service included administrative, health, and counseling.The components involved in the service include village officials, KUA officers, puskesmas officers, village midwives, family planning service providers (PLKB), to Family Welfare Development (PKK) officers.

In addition to get services from the officers, the bride and groom will also get laduni vitamins, vitamins with 15 kinds of multifitamins are obtained directly from UNICEF world health agencies.

“Iron tablets program is only given to pregnant women.In fact, it would be better if it is intervened before pregnancy, “said Mamik.

Previously, the laduni system was developed in nine districts in Probolinggo.This project received funding support from Danone Institute Indonesia.The program was well received, even the local municipal government also gave support.Positive responses arise because of the mechanism offered help puskesmas to monitor pregnant women.

Regarding the regulation of the program in Sidoarjo, the plan will be discussed with legality issued by the local government.Mamik hoped that the concept she offered can be accepted in the community.“Hopefully this program can be applied elsewhere.If possible, to become a flagship program in East Java, ” she explained.

Prior to the training to the modins, Mamik and the team of lecturers held two workshops involving officials from the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), professional organizations, the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), the Department of Population and Civil Registration, and some other relevant officers.

The workshop included a service system stabilization workshop held on November 2, and a module and book preparation workshop for officers and bridal candidates held on 15 November.As planned, on December 8, there will be training for officers in the sub-district management office.(*)
