Universities in East Java and West Australia Agree on Four Aspects of Collaborations

UNAIR NEWS Internationalization of education in East Java has reached a new stage as nine universities in East Java held a meeting with six universities in West Australia. 51动漫 was trusted to host the meeting which was attended by West Australian Minister of Education, Peter Collier MLC. The meeting was held in UNAIR Management Office, Tuesday May 3.

Officials from nine universities attended were from Pejabat Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Ampel, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), Universitas Jember (Unej), and Universitas Brawijaya Malang.

Officials from six west Australian universities were from Curtin University, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University, Notre Dame University, and West Australia University.

The meeting discussed the academic collaboration improvement and also other potential collaborations on education and research between universities in East Java and West Australia. At least there were four sectors of collaboration to be performed.

First, research and international journal publications. Second, human resources development. Third, student exchange programme. Fourth, education program development on double degree and joint-degree programs.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, expressed his gratitude as UNAIR was trusted to host the meeting. He also said that some universities in Indonesia, including UNAIR, was being appointed by the government (Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education) to reach Top 500 World Class University.

Deputy Head of International Office and Partnership (IOP) Margaretha Rehulina stated that the meeting was initiated during Australian Education Attache visit in UNAIR for collaborations meeting.

According to Margaretha, one thing interesting from the meeting was the possibility of a working unit establishment consisting of many universities in East Java and West Australia.

淚t檚 interesting because this meeting is not merely U2U (University to University) as we have it already. But there is an added value in the establishement of a working unit. Therefore, there was an offer from ITS and UNAIR for establishing consortium of universities in East Java and West Australia, especially on collaborative researches and student mobility, she said.(*)
