UNAIR NEWS– The problem of the economy that hit Indonesia requires the integration of the performance of each institution to deal with it.That is one of the things emphasized by Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in a public lecture entitled “National Insights Towards Food, Maritime and National Competitiveness” in the Amerta Hall, 4th Floor, Management Office Building Saturday afternoon, September 8.
To the students, Luhut advised them to be accustomed to working in an integrated manner. In his presentation, Luhut gave some examples on some of the economic achievements of the government. He also said that it was the fruit of integrated performance carried out through presidential leadership.
Luhut also appealed to students to work with data.Data lessens the risk of error to occur.Students must also get used to being honest leaders, not liars.
“Don’t speak based on feelings but speak based on data, “he said.
“So, the leader must never speak lies.If you lie, it will damage the lower generation and it will poison young people, “he added.
In addition, according to Luhut, the courage of all parties to take a stand for the progress of nation and state is needed, especially for young people who will become leaders of Indonesia.
Unification and Unity
Luhut also emphasized the importance of unification and unity of all elements of the nation, especially in an effort to promote Indonesia’s progress.Luhut believed that the younger generation at this time would lead Indonesia to embrace its golden age.
“The Republic of Indonesia does not belong to a group, a religion, a tribe or of a custom or tradition a custom group. But it belongs to all of us from Sabang to Merauke. That’s the opening statement, “he said.
The founding fathers have realized the potential for disintegration that overshadows Indonesia. For this reason, they made one Indonesia™s foundation from Sabang to Merauke.
“To you all youngsters (students, ed), I entrust them (unification and unity, ed) to you.Because, if not, this country could be destroyed, “he said.
Indonesian Economic Problems
Luhut said that Indonesia was the only G20 member country in Southeast Asia with an average economic growth of 5.7 percent over the last ten years.Even though, the global economic conditions have been uncertain.
These positive achievements are not without reasons, such as the fact that Indonesia is very rich in natural resources (SDA).Indonesia is committed to providing value-added natural resources production as much as possible for the welfare of all people.
“But, if I may say, we don’tmanageand integrate well. For that, I ask the Rector and the professors to learn how to integrate one program, “he said.
Towards Global Maritime Axis
The Indonesian program to be the global maritime axis echoed by the government was also discussed by Luhut.Indonesia, has a vision and missions to be sovereign, advanced, independent, strong maritime country capable of positive contributions to peace in the region and the world.
However, according to him, it was too late to be executed. It was not until President Joko Widodo’s administration that policies were really pursued and realized, taking steps to make Indonesia a Global Maritime Axis.
“Since I was still an officer, it was always announced. But, there has never been an action.Only in this era (President Jokowi, ed).For this reason, we are making a Presidential Regulation on this maritime vision and missions, “said Luhut.
Youth Role
Luhut also acknowledged the need and importance of collaboration and the fresh ideas from the youth. He gave an example of young people behind the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs team.
Based on this fact, Luhut hoped that all young people and students, especially UNAIR, dare to proceed properly. In academics, students should achieve best grade point average (GPA).Furthermore, they should offer ideas and energy to jointly develop Indonesia through their respective expertise.
“If you know, this team consists of youth. They are from 22 to 27 years old, “he said.
“Learn well, a minimum GPA of 3.00.If possible, a minimum GPA of 3.50.Then prepare your English to continue your education abroad. And, back to Indonesia to build this nation, “he added.(*)
