UNAIR NEWS– Viva Outer Division (VOD) is an orientation program of Department of Student Resource Development PSDM of PSDKU Banyuwangi student.As a form of orientation program, KM PSDKU conducts a series of VOD activities namely“PKKMB Orientation” for freshmen PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi.The activity was held on July 31, 2018, exactly 2 days before inauguration of freshmen at campus UNAIR Surabaya.
“The PKKMB orientation has actually been implemented every year starting in 2015, so our main objective is to provide an overview of the implementation of PKKMB in Surabaya, so that our siblings will be mentally prepared and equipped,” said Bondan Sigit as the head of VOD 2018.
The briefings given to new students are delivered by lecturers and students who have ever faced PKKMB.Moreover, the activity is more tosharingabout how to deal with PKKMB, needs to be prepared, tips and tricks to adapt in the new environment, to info where to live in Surabaya and Banyuwangi.
“Two years ago I was also a participant in PKKMB orientation event, and it was very helpful, since it started from having acquaintance in Banyuwangi to one boarding house and doing PKKMB together in Surabaya, therefore we will keep doing this event from year to year,” added Bondan.
Although the implementation was not attended by the Coordinator of PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi, the event ran smoothly, attended by several lecturers.One of was Muh.Thohawi EP, drh., M.Sc., an FKH lecturer.In his presentation he convinced the prospective students that PKKMB has no element of violence.He also confirmed that UNAIR Banyuwangi is not different from UNAIR Surabaya.In fact, according to him, UNAIR Banyuwangi has advantages different from UNAIR Surabaya檚 advantages.
“You just calm down, nowadays orientation is not allowed to have any element of violence, actually this activity also has violence, but in the form of mental violence, and it does not matter, because it makes you better,” he said.
In addition to give briefing about PKKMB, the activity can also be called awelcome party, because prospective students have the opportunity to know in advance their classmates, so that when PKKMB in Surabaya they already have acquaintances and will not be confused.
