UNAIR NEWS – The source of inspiration and motivation can come from anywhere.That was what Wismoyo Nugraha Putra felt, three years ago.The best graduate of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) for graduation ceremony in December 2017, remembered the difficult times of being alienated and difficult in his undergraduate (Strata-1) study at FKM.
He had wanted to join State University Joint Entrance Test (SBMPTN) again in his early period of his study, the recipient National Gas Company (PGN) scholarship then got through those difficult times smoothly and he was named the best graduate with 3.77 GPA.
The turning point was during the third semester, when he was following AIESEC.There was a participant from Taiwan, who stayed in his house at that time, had a similar problem, but he was able tosurviveand made achievements.
“Wetalked a lot.He was open and inspirational.He was in English Literature Department and he did not consider it as hispassion.But he can get through with achievements, “said Wismoyo.
The key was thechanging the mind set.Everyone must have problems, especially in education.However, we must be responsible with all that and assume what we are facing right now the best and right thing God has given us.
Since then his studies have gone smoothly.He could maintain GPA above 3.50 with more activities in organizations, committees, and other scientific activities both within and outside the country such as being a presenter of International Conference on Public Health paperin Sri Lanka.It was at the seminar that Wismoyo came up with his thesis idea.
Having been sick for a month while working on his thesis entitled “The Correlation of Diet, Physical Activity and Sedentary Lifestyle withOverweightnessin SMA Negeri 5 Surabaya”, Wismoyo was quite satisfied with his achievements.In the future, the second child of three siblings wanted to continue master檚 degree and be a lecturer in the future.(*)
