UNAIR NEWS Indonesian natural resources have not been exploited well for the people prosperity. There are still many poor people, disparities and unemployment.
UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, explained that those social economic problems happened because the natural resources have not been managed well. Therefore the wealth of natural resources becomes limited as some people fight over it for their own profits.
He said that the government needs to identify the natural resources potentials, especially in marine ecology.
“The land has experienced reduction. People say one percent of Indonesian control over 49 percent. The land is limited while the marine is still potential. There are many potentials we can exploit. If we can do it well, we can look after 40 percent of Indonesian population, said Nasih.
According to Nasih, the government needs to improve industrialization by supporting the industry based on natural resources, integrating big, medium and small scale industrials, and also employing human resources as many as possible for the industry.
“As long as the research institutes in universities are also integrated, explained Nasih in the roadshow event of ” Chosen Industry in Indonesian Industrialization Strategic Framework 2045 held by National Industrial and Economic Committee (KEIN) with UNAIR on Saturday, February 4.
Chief of KEIN Sutrisno Bachir agreed with the statements made by Nasih. He said that synergy between universities, government and business practitioners.
“If the campus is the ivory tower, the synergy won檛 happen, said Sutrisno.
In his address, this roadshow is needed to design the Indonesian economic roadmap until 2045. There are five roadmaps to be designed through five focused group discussion (FGD), agro industry, maritime industry, creative economy industry, tourism industry and manufacture industry.
Sutrisno said that East Java has dynamic economic condition. A university like UNAIR is expected to affect the development of East Java to the betterment.
The discussion of roadmap was attended by Deputy of Business Restructuring and Development of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Nilanto Perbowo, General Director of Product Competitiveness of Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Aloysius and Head of Industry and Trade Agency, Ardy Prasetiawan.
