UNAIR NEWS Phinisi boat built for Ksatria Medika Airlangga floating hospital will be operational soon. The members of DPR-RI Commission IX commented on the boat which is at 60% progress when they were visiting 51 on Friday, March 24. They visited UNAIR to get inputs on the follow up for medical specialists compulsory practice (WKDS).
Thats cool, Okky Asokawati, first comment on the floating hospital initiated by graduated doctors of Fakultas Kedokteran 51.
I am happy and really appreciated UNAIR has a floating hospital. In my opinion, it is the right service to reach the outermost islands and it is what the society needs as our country is an archipelago, said the owner of QQ Modeling school tounair.news.
Okky admitted that she has heard about floating nurse, floating midwife, floating clinics and even floating puskesmas. She saw one when she was in South Kalimantan. But she thought Kemenkes attention to the floating puskesmas should be improved especially the medical equipments.
If in the future, UNAIR can realized this floating hospital similar to grade C hospital, I will be grateful as the outer islands should also be taken into account especially regaring the human resources, said Okky.
When she asked and knew the doctors of Ksatria Medika Airlangga floating hospital were from UNAIR, Okky said Amazing. She showed her respect as she knew that the boat was built to conduct community services of UNAIR to support the government.
This is good, and I really support this idea. If I may suggest, Commission IX is really concern with hospital accreditations, so if it is expected to be a grade C hospital, then it should be adjusted like the real grade C hospital, said Okky.

The Chairman of Commission IX, Dede Yusuf, when was informed about the hospital even asked Really? he said. When he was shown the progress of the boat, he then said that it was a good idea and must be supported, and he asked to be invited when it is launched.
Whatever it is, if the concept is going to the patients, I will support and it is good, said Dede. He said that he has never seen private floating hospital besides KRI Dr. Soeharso which is functioned as hospital. There is a floating clinic, like one in Waduk Jati Luhur to go to the other part of lake which is far by land.
In the hospital context, we should consider the number of wards and also the accreditation, said Dede.
Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, dr., M.Kes., head of Academic Division FK UNAIR explained that grade C UNAIR Floating Hospital will be equipped with operating theatre, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology and internal medicine wards. There will be examination room and recovery room after operation.
Dede said that he ever suggested floating hospital development using modified roll on roll off ship but there was no follow ups. The objective is providing services to outer islands, especially when the local governments request for great budget but limited human resources, so this is the target suggested by Dede.
If it is realized by UNAIR, then we must learn from UNAIR, especially the idea was from the alumni initiative, an excellent idea, said Dede. (*)
