UNAIR NEWS A 15 year old young man who is also the pioneer of Surabaya Students Movement, Aryo Seno Bagaskoro, unfolded the condition of nationalism in front of the students of International Relations bachelor program, Monday (20/3).
The young man delivered the exposition in the class of Indonesia Strategic Study subject. Seno, a tenth grader of SMAN 5 Surabaya, explained that the youths are the key to national reform.
淭he standard reflection of a nation is the youths. It is because the youths who will determine the face of Indonesia in the next 20 to 30 years, he said.
In front of dozens of International Relations , Seno also mentioned about the youths role to welcome national glory. Quoting Tan Malaka, idealism is the last luxury only the youths have, Seno also asked the audience to magnify the power of ideas which he has.
淥ne hundred year old Indonesia in the year of 2045 which is expected to be national glory will be determined by the youths today, Seno affirmed.
When asked about his views on students, this Chief of Surabaya Students Alliance (APS) says that the students condition nowadays is in the era of openness and amazing access to information. However, Seno regrets, since information is easily found the space for like the one of the youths struggle in the early days of independence.
淚ndeed students nowadays get more information input compare to the early days of independence when information was only from radio. However even though the information was limited, they kept moving. This is our challenge, Seno said firmly.
As a response to the action taken by FISIP UNAIR, Drs. Suko Widodo, M.Si., as a lecturer of Communication Studies, states that the youths involvement in welcoming the civilization of a nation is an important thing.
淭here is a 15 year old kid who thinks about Indonesia, this is crazy, he said.
Not only that, Suko who is also the Chief of PIH explains that the challenges for the youths in his era was not as hard as the ones waiting for the youths nowadays, especially in terms of media information flow. This expert of political communication also wishes that UNAIR can be an apt vessel by holding talk shows in order to unite the youths and all stakeholders to have a mutual discussion in a nationalism forum.
淯NAIR needs to give a new public space for that, he concluded. (*)
