UNAIR NEWS After a few times registered his name at the Faculty of Law 51动漫, Syaiful Maa檙if S.H., CN., M.H., known as Gus SM, has finally earned a doctoral degree after defending his dissertation in front of the examiners on Wednesday (21/2). The examination was held at Pancasila Hall Building A Faculty of Law UNAIR, a day after his younger brother檚. Syaiful Ma檃rif and his younger brother, Dr. Amirul Faqih Amza S.H., M.H., in fact share the same interest in law science.
淢y younger brother and I have similar hobbies of going to schools, college. My name has been registered five times in the Faculty of Law UNAIR; from bachelor program, notary candidate, postgraduate, and Law Science program, Gus SM explained when he was being interviewed by the media.
Syaiful Ma檃rif is the 317th Doctor from the Faculty of Law 51动漫. Meanwhile his younger brother, Amirul Faqih Amza, registered as the 316th Doctor of FH UNAIR. Even though they hold a different profession, both of them keep supporting each other and often share opinions.
淒ue to the will of God, we both could take the examination and were declared passed the law science doctoral program UNAIR only with one day gap. My brother started his doctoral study first; a year later I started mine. The same thing happened for our master study, my brother started earlier, said Syaiful Ma檃rif who once was an activist in the 90s.
At the open examination, Syaiful was able to answer all refutations in front of the examiners team which was led by Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Shomad S.H., M.H., who happens to be the ofLaw UNAIR.
The man who was born in Surabaya, 6 December 1971 chose a theme entitled The Constitutional Court Ruling in association with the Supreme Court Authority in a Cassation Appeal on an Acquittal of a Criminal Verdict for his dissertation.
淚 chose the theme because the implementation of Article 244 of the Penal Code has been distorted. Public prosecutors don檛 have the authority to appeal a cassation on an acquittal, moreover with the establishment of Constitutional Court Ruling No. 114/PUU-X82012 Date 26 March 2003. They make justice system ruin the legal protection for the people, he said.
Currently Syaiful works as a lawyer at an office he established, that is Syaiful Ma檃rif & Partners Law. Meanwhile Amirul is a judge at the District Court of Takalar, South Sulawesi.
When asked about the possibility of them meeting in a case at a Court, Amirul added that it is impossible because when it happens one of them has to resign.
淚f we meet in a Court, well yes, one of us have to resign, Amirul said.
