UNAIR NEWS Coming to UNAIR is like coming back home. The statement was made by the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources during his public lecture in presence of UNAIR 586 postgraduate newly inaugurated students on Thursday, February 23. He delivered the speech in presence of doctoral, master, specialist and profession students.
He feels that UNAIR is his home as he studied accounting in Faculty of Economics UNAIR and graduated as bachelor in 1986. In the public lecture, he increased the students motivation in the new students.
If you pursue higher education only for promotions or acknowledgment from others, you better dont go for it at all. Always dream to use your knowledge for the sake of society, Jonan said.
Jonan also shared his story after being graduated from Fletcher School, Tufts University, AS. When he was the Minister of Transportation, he received an award in Humanity from French government for improving the train transportation into more humane transportation.
To be a national leader, alumni of UNAIR should dedicate themselves for the people interest, he said.
He has short message for the academicians of UNAIR First, do not postpone the work. Second, do not complicate others affairs. Do something good every day. As religious people, always believe that our fortunes wont be mixed up, he said.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is currently focusing on providing electricity to all rural areas in Indonesia. We have had our independence for 72 years, yet there are still 2,500 villages without electricity.
There are 2.500 villages without electricity. We focus on those problems because it is important thing, he added. (*)
