UNAIR NEWS 51动漫 Animal Hospital (RSH UNAIR) maintained full 24-hour services throughout the Eid holiday, reinforcing its role as a leading veterinary referral center in Surabaya, East Java, and eastern Indonesia. Supported by facilities such as a pet hotel and an emergency unit, the hospital expanded its service capacity during the 2026 holiday period.
In an interview on Thursday, March 26, 2026, RSH UNAIR Director Prof. Dr. Anwar Ma檙uf, drh., M.Kes., said that demand for the pet hotel surged during the holiday, reaching full capacity. 淲e are currently fully booked, with around 67 animals, Prof. Ma檙uf said. In addition to boarding services, the hospital also provided free health check-ups to ensure that all admitted animals met required health standards. 淥nly healthy animals are allowed to stay, so we provide screening services beforehand, he explained.
RSH UNAIR also prioritized both the physical and psychological well-being of the animals. These measures were designed to reduce stress caused by unfamiliar environments. Prof. Ma檙uf noted that adjustments included maintaining specific feeding routines, scheduling playtime and regular activities, and allowing pets to use their own cages from home. Pet owners also received regular updates on their animals through the hospital檚 messaging service.

Service excellence and collaboration
Beyond boarding services, RSH UNAIR continued to operate its emergency unit throughout the Eid holiday. Prof. Ma檙uf explained that emergency cases remained frequent, including medical procedures such as a feline delivery handled during the holiday period. 淥n the night of takbiran, we handled a case of a cat giving birth, he said. He added that cases of vomiting and diarrhea were among the most common during this year檚 Eid holiday.
To support operations, RSH UNAIR engaged student volunteers. Rahman, a volunteer from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UNAIR, said the experience provided valuable learning opportunities, including assisting in surgery for an animal injured in a train accident. Meanwhile, Ana, a student from Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya, recalled a case involving a dog suffering from severe respiratory distress that later died.
In addition to human resources, the hospital is equipped with supporting facilities such as dedicated rooms for infectious and non-infectious cases, as well as a pet ambulance service. RSH UNAIR also offered vaccination discounts during the holiday, with 25 percent off for cats and 50 percent off for dogs as part of its commitment to animal welfare.
