UNAIR NEWS Evita Olivia Firmanto, a Biomedical Engineering student from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at 51动漫 (), has been selected for the DiscoverNUS Exchange Program 2026. The program is a one-semester student exchange held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from January to May 2026.

Firmanto shared that she had been interested in the program for a long time, which prompted her to start gathering information and preparing early. 淚 have been eager to join the DiscoverNUS program from the beginning, so I searched for information about the selection process through the Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) website and from senior students, she said.

During the selection, Firmanto prepared several documents, including an ELPT certificate, academic transcript, personal statement, and passport. She mentioned that writing the personal statement was the most challenging part.

淚 struggled with crafting my personal statement, especially in explaining myself effectively in writing. I looked for tips on YouTube and read about other students experiences to learn how to present myself clearly, she explained.

While participating in the DiscoverNUS program, Firmanto attended various courses delivered through lectures as well as tutorials and lab sessions. She said the program offered valuable insights through interactive discussions with lecturers and student presentations.

Beyond classroom activities, Firmanto joined multiple campus events, including art exhibitions, university programs, and educational visits. Through these activities, she had the opportunity to visit major companies in Singapore such as Google, Grab, and Changi Airport.

淥ne of the most memorable experiences was visiting Google. I gained insights into their sustainable food services. We were also given a tour of the company and had the chance to sample some of the food available, she said.

Firmanto encouraged fellow students interested in exchange programs to be proactive and well-prepared. She emphasized the importance of taking initiative while preparing thoroughly from the start.

淒o not hesitate to apply, because you will never know the outcome unless you try. Courage should go hand in hand with preparation, such as gathering information and completing all required documents properly. It is also essential to be ready to adapt to a new environment and culture in order to gain meaningful and unforgettable experiences, she concluded.
