Faculty of Law Delegates Win National Moot Court Competition

UNAIR NEWS There were about twenty students in the team of Faculty of Law 51动漫. They were the grand champion in National Moot Court Competition held by FH Universitas Indonesia. It was held from Friday to Sunday, December 2-4.

They won after they simulate a court on environmental crime. Like the real court of law, the delegates were divided into some judges, prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, clerk of court, witnesses and also the defendant.

From twenty students, 16 played those roles. They were Almas Sidda Bahiya (2014), Bintang Samudera (2015), Arif Firmansyah Herliyanto (2015), Roynaldo Mora Sitorus (2014), Nahdlotul Fadilah (2015), Novella Intan Chusna (2014), Bayu Ari Winarno (2014), Yoshua Danuri Damanik (2014), and Hanifah Ayu Nandasari (2013).

There was also Mohammad Amar Abdillah (2014), Shoimatuz Zahro (2014), Hajita Cahyo Nugroho (2014), Rizka Fatrian (2015), Nina Farah Adela (2014), and Hidayatur Rohman (2015). Beside the role players, there were also supervising participants, Gilang Izzuddin Amrullah (2014), Rendy Triherwanto (2013), Renda Aranggraeni (2015), and Muchammad Usama Martak (2015).

Rendy, one of the members of the team said that the team got a disposition of the case from the committee. Then they were asked to make a preparation for the court session, from the prosecution documents to the evidences.

淎fter we prepared all of them, we were expected to performe it. For the final case, we got a disposition on protected animal smuggling while in the preliminary round we got a case on land arson which has caused a pollution, said Rendy.

In the competition, FH UNAIR delegates competed with other universities, state or private in Indonesia, such as Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Diponegoro, and Universitas Bina Nusantara.

During practice they were supervised by one of the experts of administrative law FH UNAIR Franky Butar Butar, S.H. They were training for four months before the final, since August. Finally they made it to win and bring three out of five categories, Best Judge, Best Prosecuting Attorney and Best Defense Attorney.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, expressed his appreciation to the winners. The delegates were received in Rector檚 room, Management Office Building UNAIR on Friday, December 9. Beside UNAIR Rector, there was also Director of Student Affairs UNAIR Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, S.H., M.H., C.N., and the team檚 supervisor, Franky.

淐ongratulations to all of you for ascending UNAIR檚 flag at national level. At least, this success has made us even more confident. We will keep pushing forward but still, don檛 neglect your study, said UNAIR Rector.

Beside expressing his gratitude to the team, Prof. Nasih also thanked Franky for supervising them until final and winning the competition.
