UNAIR NEWS – Dr. H. Widi Hidayat, S.E., MSi., Ak., CA., CMA is one of the experts of accounting and audit . His action is indubitable. His track record in campus or beyond UNAIR of contributing to the society is unarguable. Since 1994, he has held some structural positions in campus. Nowadays, this born Karanganyar man is given a mandate as the Dean of Faculty of Vocational Studies; which means he is asked to be the man behind the wheel of the faculty.
Being a Dean of a recently established faculty is a challenge all its own for this former Vice Dean of Economics UNAIR. Widi is encouraged to develop applied study discipline which becomes the spirit of each program in the faculty.
Widi stated that Vocational students are taught specifically about practices. On one hand, this defines their expertise in an equally definite job market. On the other hand, their expertise in a certain field becomes completely sharpened and deepened. This will prepare them to be totally ready to plunge into the working world. This has been proven by the fact that graduates who have been apprenticed to a company are then offered a position there; which means the prospect for diplomas or of Vocational Studies is crystal clear.
When asked about the study of Accountancy that he pursues, Widi explained that the prospect for this study is equally bright, especially in the auditing field. This is because every company and government institution definitely needs accountants and auditors. Therefore, the demand for graduates of this study is never receding; it goes along with the current development which gives positive implications to economic growth.
淓xpertise in auditing will always be needed every time, including in the future, said this born Karanganyar man.
Besides teaching, as a lecturer Widi is also active in doing researches, including giving community services. He has written several scientific works and publications which are classified as applicative thoughts, particularly in the field of auditing.
Widi is often appointed a speaker in various workshops, symposiums, and scientific seminars. He also frequently receives invitations to be a speaker in many public discussions. Some of the international seminars/symposiums which he attended are International Symposium: Toward Development in The New Era of The Holistic Economics and The International Seminar and Symposium on Implementation of Islamic Economics in The World as Alternative of Conventional Economic System.
