UNAIR NEWS Pursuing the study of nursing since early age is the way chosen by Dr. Kusnanto, S.Kep., M.Kes. The man who was born in Mojokerto, 29 August 1968 said that before taking a nursing bachelor program at Bandung, he had started his nursing study at Medical Nursing School (SPK) of the same degree as a Senior High School then studied nursing further at Nursing Academy. From this educational background, Kusnanto is then excellent in the field offundamental of nursing补苍诲听medical surgical nursing.
淭o make sound the study I have been pursuing, I continued my master and doctoral studies in the field of nursing at UNAIR, he explained.
To make use of the study he has been pursuing, Kusnanto who is now the Vice Dean I of Faculty of Nursing UNAIR, is active in nursing associations, such as Indonesian Nursing National Association and The Association of Indonesian Nursing Education. Moreover, several of his scientific works have been publicized. Among the publicized journals of his is Self-care Management Model-Holistic Psychospiritual-care Development toward the Independence and Blood Sugar Level and HbA1C of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients, in 2012. Let alone the numerous community service activities he also actively takes part in.
淚n a community service in 2012, I delivered training on stress management using the implementation of progressive muscle relaxation method to a diabetic patients community in the working area of Kebonsari community health center, Surabaya, he added.
From his various scientific works and keenness to develop and dedicate his knowledge on Fundamental of Nursing and Medical Surgical Nursing, Kusnanto consequently earned a number of awards, namely Award Certificate from the Director General of Higher Education in 2006, Award Certificate from the East Java Red Cross Chairman in 2014, and Award Certificate from the Mayor of Surabaya in 2014. Kusnanto is also the author of a book entitled Introduction to Profession and Practices of Professional Nursing which was published in 2014. When asked about the reason why he pursues fundamental nursing, Kusnanto explained that it is part of the education he has taken since he was young.
淚 take fundamental nursing because it underlies the study of nursing. I am born nurse from SPK, Nursing Academy, Nursing Bachelor Degree, to Doctoral Degree. That檚 why I keep my focus on fundamental nursing, he concluded. (*)
