UNAIR NEWS Senior High School biggest medicine competition, Medical Science and Application Competition (Medspin) 2016 held by Student Executive Board (BEM) of Faculty of Medicine (FK) 51动漫 was over.
On Sunday, November 20 in FK Anatomy Room at 1630 local time, the winners of medical science competition was announce and the winner was the team from SMA Kharisma Bangsa, Banten. The team became the first winner after they defeated their competitions in Grand Final.
Medspin was firstly held in 2002 and was called Medical Science competition but it became Medspin in 2004. In 2015, 16,311 participants took parts and in 2016, there were 7,000 teams or 21,000 participants of senior high school students from 33 cities and towns in Indonesia.
Series of events was started on November 6, 2016. In the qualifying rounds, 150 teams were selected to go to quarter finals, semifinals, finals and grand final held yesterday. This year, the theme of the competition was tropical disease.
淲e hoped that Medspin is not merely about great number of participants, but through this positive activities, we can facilitate their spirit for competition, said Prima Ardiansah, Executive Chief of Medspin 2016.
The competition which involved more than seven thousand teams was to win trophies from Menristekdikti, Governor, and Mayor of Surabaya. The second place was SMA Kesatuan Bangsa Yogyakarta, and the third place was SMAN 4 Denpasar. The fourth place was SMA Semesta Semarang.
淟ast year, team of SMA Kharisma Bangsa was the second winner in Medspin, but I was not in the team. Only Faisal and Fahmi were in the team. For competition experience, Faisal has won National Science Olympiad(OSN) Physics in Yogyakarta in 2015. I got a bronze in Biology. Personally, I wanto get into FK UNAIR, said Danang Dwi Prasetyo, one of the members of Kharisma Bangsa team after the awarding session.
For two days in Surabaya, the participants in 150 teams did not only focus to solving problems given. They were also invited to attend hepatitis seminar and early prevention of breast cancer. They were also invited to go round the campus of FK UNAIR.
淲 introduced the facilities and illustrated the studies in FK UNAIR. We also held free dental check up in FK hall. There was also med ontalkshowwhich was about a seminar on impression of being FK UNAIR students, also a city tour for the participants who failed to go to finals, to Herous Monument, Culinary Tour and Museum of Indonesian Bank Surabaya. They were invited to follow trainings on medical science and basic medical skills, said Prima.
