UNAIR NEWS Midwifery Undergraduate Program, faculty of Medicine 51动漫 kep committing to be better. On Tuesday, (28/8) the dean of Faculty of Medicine (FK) 51动漫 (UNAIR) officially opened new laboratory.
The grand opening ceremony began with tumpeng-cutting by Coordinator of Midwifery Undergraduate Program, Baksono Winardi, dr., SpOG(K), witnessed by the faculty officer, lecturers and also Education and Academic staff of FK UNAIR.
During his speech, Prof Soetojo anticipated that the laboratory could support the learning process of nurse midwifery student.
The laboratories coordinator of FK UNAIR, Dhasih Afiat, explained that the moving of former laboratory (where previously in one area of Faculty of Dentistry UNAIR) to the new place would bring new atmosphere for learning process of the future nurse-midwife. The new laboratory is now inside of Faculty of medicine, meanwhile, the new laboratory considered better than before.
There are three rooms consist of one 6mx15m big room, and two 3mx4m rooms. And the other space will be divided into 9 rooms, which expected to support improving clinical skill and academic practice to be more intensive.
The new building of laboratory is not only bigger than before but also provide comfortable physiology childbirth laboratory.
淭his laboratory will be as simulation room for midwifery student to help natural labor and delivery. So, it was designed with similar concept of home childbirth, he said
In simulation area, there are bath up, sofa. Birthing ball which to relieve the contraction pain for pregnant women. There is also the attached long strap as the holder for patient during her contraction time. The room well-equipped with two lamps for bright and dim light.
淭he dim light will help the labor process more relax, He said
The new laboratory concept idea was discovered after the officers conducted comparative study in many midwifery schools in foreign countries, such us in Europe, Netherland and Australia.
淥ver there, the childbirth room designed as comfortable as possible, and we guess we have not found yet the similar thing like that in midwifery school Indonesia, he stated
\In regarded to that, the officer of midwifery program will make the laboratory as the excellent facility.
Dramatic Effect
Meanwhile, in this laboratory also provide pregnant women mannequin. It helps the lecturer to show the labor process to students. The mannequin equipped with machine component, it allows student to control the heartbeat and the moves.
When the baby mannequin is out, the red liquid (blood look alike) may occur to make the simulation process feel real. Through the mannequin, the lecturers can show the delivery of fetal head. This U.S.A made mannequin cost 1,5 Billion rupiah.
The existence of laboratory is to support Physiology or natural childbirth. Before simulation process begins, student will be provided with lesson and discussion. Then they will join the regular course with bigger group.
Then, students will be divided into small group which consist of 5-7 person to join the simulation process. The simulation will be guided by the experienced lecturers.
Dhasih expected there would be addition for laboratory due to the huge number of midwifery student.
淲ith the huge number of student, it檚 not ideal if we only have one laboratory, He said
For the next, the laboratory will be equipped with small bedrooms to support training of childbirth care.
