UNAIR NEWS – Two diploma students of Library Technician, Faculty of Vocational Studies, 51¶¯Âþ had an internship program at Sultan Abdul Samad Library, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia.The two students are Nur Diana Fajriyah and Crenniar Dinda Mustika.
Internship entitled Application For Student Industrial Training that lasts for a whole month, starting from August 1-31.The activity as one of the introduction to the extensive industrials, in addition to implement the knowledge obtained during the lectures.
“Many people assume that the work industry in library is not so significant.In Indonesia, the profession of librarians can be from any fields of science.Unlike in Malaysia, the library industry is a field for academics who have special education on library, “said Nur Diana.
Although in its implementation, in Malaysia due to the fierce industrial industry competition, there are other areas that enter the industry of library.
“The library is the heart of the information in where the library is.Management of information resources becomes fundamental for managers of information sources, “he added.
Nur Diana added, the librarians have a role in developing the academic field in an agency.Improving the librarians™ quality must always be done as the times progress.
On the first day of the internship, there was a welcoming reception and introduction to the library.This session was attended by two UNAIR students, one Universitas Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia student, and a new librarian.Three days in the first week, students got a library industry direction from the Corporate and Staff Training section.
In rotation students are introduced to the officers in the library.Among them are Librarian Officer (PKP) Officers, Quality Division and Branch Library: Quality Section, System and Technology Information System (BSTM), Distribution Development section, Serial Publishing Division, Malaysian Agricultural Sources and Media Division.
In addition, they were also introduced to the Archive and Sustainability Division, Digital Resource Management Division, User Recognition Division, Referral Division, Advocacy and Informational Division and Library Branch.
On the last day, two students from introduced the campus and UNAIR library through a presentation.(*)
