UNAIR NEWS In regards of diversity, Indonesia is indeed the right place for learning about it. Besides the diversity of religions, tribes and languages, Indonesia also has other kinds of diversity interesting to learn. Therefore, Miami Dade College Florida, The U.S.A, collaborated to learn more about Indonesia.
There were at least 11 students and 1 lecturer from Miami Dade College visiting UNAIR. Representing UNAIR, Coordinator of Inbound Mobility International Office and Partnership (IOP) Dr. Irfan Wahyudi, M.Comms., said that the two-week event was planned for a long time.
淚t is a special program. They wanted to visit Indonesia in collaboration with UNAIR to learn about diversity and learn more on how Indonesian people live together and maintain tolerance, he said in UNAIR NEWS after the welcoming reception on Tuesday, May 23.
Irfan also said that for the next two weeks, the students will visit some historic and religious places. Some of the destinations to were Tebu Ireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Pohsarang Church in Kediri.
淭hrough this activity, they will know Indonesia as a whole, not only from the mass media. Hopefully they can be the ambassador of Indonesia back in their country, stated Irfan.
From Miami Dade College, Prof. Michael L said that his university and UNAIR has been collaborating for three years. Michael also said that the collaboration was not with UNAIR only, but also with some other universities in Indonesia.
淭his collaboration established to develop good relations between the academic community in America and in Indonesia, he said.
About the program, Michael said that his university tried to initiate a useful program. Therefore, Michael took his students here to know more about South East Asia, especially Indonesia.
淚n the process, we establish communication to develop program which brings values, he said.
Enrique R. Sepulveda as the representative of Miami Dade College students said that it was his first time in Indonesia and he joined the activity to gain new insight about life.
