UNAIR NEWS “Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) held an opening event for FISIP students orientation known as UFO (United FISIP Orientation) on Thursday, August 9.2018 UFO was presented well and more attractive.
Themed “Indonesia 3.0”, one of the objectives of activity was to form students who were able to think critically amid the swift flow of information including deepening insight about national identity.
The event was opened with a flashmobby the committee along with 758 freshmen of FISIP.Guided by several instructors, all participants were very enthusiastic in following the dance moves that were specifically made to welcome the freshmen.
Not only that, apparently the committee still kept another surprise.After theflashmob, freshmen were treated to a Reog Ponorogo performance by a group of FISIP students.They are members of Airlangga Taruna Budaya, a community of art activists.It is the first ever throughout the history of FISIP UFO organization.
The display also proved that these activities are not only oriented to instill nationalism and democratic spirit identical to the figure of FISIP students.Instead, students also have a concern for the preservation of the country’s artistic and cultural heritage.
This opening was attended by the Dean of FISIP UNAIR Dr.Falih Suaedi, Drs., M.Si., along with his staff, Head of BEM FISIP UNAIR, and alumni.Before stepping on the main event, the opening of UFO 2018, Dr.Falih delivered his speech in front of freshmen.They were encouraged to always care about the issues and social problems around them.
“Be students who always maintain pluralism and democracy.Students who care about justice and poverty.Because, in FISIP you are educated to be critical, pluralist and democratic students, “he said.
After giving a speech, Dr.Falih officially opened 2018 UFOs by letting the balloons flew away.The freshmen also pledged student oath led by Head of UNAIR FISIP BEM Muhammad Lutfi Al-Jufri.
After the endorsement, freshmen were mobilized indoors to continue the next activities such assharingwith alumni, dissemination of intra-campus organizations, anddisplayingthe Semi Autonomous Body (BSO).The freshmen were also required to be proactive through discussion activities,roleplayingto action management.
The UFO will be held for three days from Thursday, August 9 to Saturday, August 11.(*)
