Concerned with Children’s English Education, ILSA Promotes ALRTUILSA

(8/5/2023) | Education is one of the crucial components in the world of education. One method of education is language. As we know, language is a tool that can bridge communication between educators and students. This makes the language very important in an academic setting. An important language to teach school-age children is Indonesian, and the universal language is English. English is also a window for these children to see the world.

Departing from the desire to educate English for school-age children, ILSA (International Law Students’ Association) then, through its work program, prepared the facilities. The work program in question is ALTRUILSA. This work program which is based on raising funds for donations to children on the D-day of its activities, decided to provide education related to English to the children who came.

The children who came on Saturday (6/5/2023) evening came with complete books and stationery to participate in the class ILSA will be holding. Then after the number of children is even, the event begins. The event began with remarks by the project officer, Farrell Sudharma, a student at the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University Batch 2022. After Farrell gave a speech, it was followed by remarks from the supervisor from ILSA. After that, the following agenda is education.

The “teachers” who educate come from FH Unair students themselves. The material presented is close to elementary to junior high school lessons. These matters revolve around fruits, vegetables, animals, and body parts. The children who came also varied. The classes are easy to teach because the age range is similar, from grade 2 to grade 4.

Apart from educational sessions, there were also sessions for playing games and making origami. The entire agenda ended with the closing by the MC, Excella Junghans. The organizers then took pictures with the children who had been educated and went home with the hope that activities like this could be sustainable and held again in the following years. This hope was carried by the entire ALTRUILSA committee even though the event had ended.
