(18/5/2023) | As one of the prestigious Semi-Autonomous Bodies at the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University, the Airlangga Young Jurisprudence Society (MYMA) won another victory in the legal debate competition. Delegates sent to the Raden Rahmat Law Fair legal debate competition organized by Surabaya State Islamic University consisted of Christalia Emmanuel Tanra (2022), Calvin Wie (2021), Cahyaning Puspita Nusantara (2021), Septi Tri Cahyanti (2021), Muhammad Akmal Syawal ( 2021), Karine Luisa Hartono (2022), Kevin Hartono (2020), where the activity was carried out from 6-16 May 2023 which was carried out online and also offline.
Christalia, as one of the delegates, when interviewed by the FH NEWS team on Wednesday (17/5/2023) said that this competition was quite impressive when it won third place. “When our delegation won 3rd place, we were happy and relieved for this achievement, and our struggle for about a month was inseparable from our older siblings, MYMA alumni, and from the support of FH UNAIR lecturers, so we felt relieved to be able to compete with good in the race,” Christalia said.
The legal debate competition attended by the UNAIR FH delegation organized by Surabaya State Islamic University was not the first time UNAIR FH delegations had participated in this competition. Christalia also said that the motions being contested this time were thick with constitutional themes, which of the 12 motions submitted were not all competed in this competition. “The majority of our delegates do not yet have high legal debate experience, so this is a challenge in preparing for this competition, but we are grateful to God for the results we have achieved, and we also learned a lot from this competition opportunity.” continued Christalia in conveying the ups and downs of the competition.
At the end of the interview, Christhalia and her delegates advised all FH UNAIR students to have the courage to try new things and not be afraid to try them so that they can become active and successful students in the future. “More specifically, MYMA hopes to continue to be a forum for students who want to excel, especially in the field of legal debate.” closed Christalia.
