UNAIR NEWS The Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia Muhammad Nasir awards an educator certificate in the form of Special Lecturer Identity Number (NIDK) to 39 medical specialists at Dr. Soetomo Hospital (RSDS) and the Faculty of Medicine 51. The awarding of the clinical studies lecturer certificate was held in the meeting hall of Diagnostic Center Building, RSDS, on Monday (27/3).
Besides awarding the clinical studies lecturer certificate, the Minister also presents a decree to a doctoral lecturer to be a Professor. The Minister states that this certificate awarding to the clinical studies lecturers is a solution to the problem of clinical studies status in an educational hospital.
We do (the certificate awarding) to confirm the status of doctors at the faculty of medicine as well as at the hospital. In the future, lecturers at the faculty of medicine must be able to co-operate with lecturers who practice in the hospital. In this case, just like at Dr. Soetomo Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine 51, Nasir explained when being interviewed.
Nasir also added that the increasing number of doctors who become clinical studies lecturers is hoped to collaborate with each other to bring forward the quality of medical education, in the research field as well as in the health service. In the future, his party wishes, the other medical specialists are also willing to apply for this clinical studies lecturer certificate.
The Rector of UNAIR Prof. Dr. Mochammad Nasih shows his appreciation for the step taken by the Minister to award the clinical studies lecturer certificate and the decree on a Professor position. One of the biggest leaps to be a world class university is to merge Dr. Soetomo Hospital and FK UNAIR. This makes us proud. Finally, our ratio is getting better. Nasih said.
With the awarding of the clinical studies lecturer certificate, the ratio between lecturers and students especially at FK UNAIR will improve. With the number of students is less than 3,000 and the number of lecturers is about 500, then the ratio will be one to six, added Nasih.
In the same occasion, the Governor of East Java Soekarwo also granted research funds and awards for the publication of research results to ten researchers who consist of eight doctors, a nurse, and a technician.
Previously, the number of lecturers at who holds NIDK certificate was 216. NIDK is a certificate for lecturers who are also practitioners such as medical specialists or subspecialists with at least 2 years working experience. (*)
