UNAIR NEWS– Ministry of Women’s Empowerment BEM 51动漫 held a discussion (Karin), the first event at Propadause Lecture Hall FK , Friday, August 24.The theme was “Early Marriage, Blessing or Disaster?” The routine discussion was a success.It can be seen from the number of participants who reached 271 participants when there were only about 50 participants previously.
“Previously, the discussion was held in Student Center Hall second floor of Campus C UNAIR and was forced to be transferred to Propadeus Lecture Hall FK Campus A to facilitate the overflowing registrants,” said Aprilia Aris Tanti, Staff of the Ministry of PP BEM UNAIR.
The discussion was opened with a speech from President of UNAIR BEM Galuh Teja Sakti who opposes early marriage, from a legal perspective.According to him, the existing minimum age of marriage is not in line with with the mentality and sexual condition of the couple.
“Based on Law Number 1 Year 1974 the minimum limit allowed to marry is the age of 19 years for men and 16 years for women,” he explained.
The speaker of the routine discussion, drg.Luluk Farida, is one of the authors of I Click to Nikah.Luluk discusses thoroughly about early marriage based on an Islamic perspective.According to her, marriage is actually a solution to the fulfillment of human nature, affection to preserve species.In the Shari’a, marriage has no age limit, the limit is the ability.Being able in this case is not a matter of wealth but mentally and physically ready to bear marriage.
Luluk also explained the need for early marriage education efforts sincepre-high schoolagein order to understand the burden of marriage which is not just a momentary sexual desire.She also emphasized the prohibition of marriage could lead to courtship orfree sex.
“The cancellation of early marriages, or increasing the legal age limit for marriage in Indonesia through law is not a solution,” said Luluk
“For men, they must exercise independence, able to work, and free from parental responsibilities.While for girls, mental and skills are needed in the household, “said Luluk.
