UNAIR NEWS听– Library does not stop improving its quality as information provider since there have been many changes for the academicians or the public to get information in the library.
The Head of UNAIR Library, Prof. Dr. I Made Narsa said that those changes are the library檚 way to answer the change of the era. According to Narsa, librarian in the future will be partners for academicians to support their education and research activity.
“They may in the future publish their own articles in reputable international journals, said Narsa during the 62nd anniversary of UNAIR Hospital in Hotel Swiss-Bellinn, on Wednesday, May 3.
This year theme is 淚nnovative and Creative Library and Librarian in Digital Era. In the last two years, the library was improved and prioritized to use the public space. There were also 32 internet access point.
For next year, Narsa said that his unit has allocated Rp 1 billion to buy 1000 titles of books. To answer the digitalization challenge, the library will also double the allocation. This year there is Rp 8.7 billion budget used for digital collection.
“Why digital? Because at the moment, library visits can be done not only physically but also virtually, explained Narsa.
“Therefore, the biggest resolution is to open access anywhere. If we used to go to the campus, now, the students can access anywhere as long as their proxies are registered, he added.
Keep Inviting Students to Come Physically
Even though UNAIR library is accessible anywhere, the library is still interesting to visit. Narsa admitted that his unit has worked with all academicians to use the public space in the library as the venue of activities.
For example, in the 62nd anniversary, UNAIR Library has held series of events. From April 1, UNAIR library has held blood donation event, inviting kindergarten students to visit UNAIR library for storytelling events and also call for papers participated by librarians from universities in Indonesia.
