UNAIR NEWS–World FoodDayis an routine event held evey year in more than 150 countries. In order to improve awareness on poverty, famine and also as a support to food security issue, students association of Veterinary Medicine (HMKH) PDD UNAIR distributed animal food products to commemorate World Food Day in Blambangan Park, on Sunday October 16.
According to Ainun Amerta Savitri, Head of Committee, the event was initiated by Fowl Care & Swine and Ruminane Care Division (FoCa & SCR) HMKHBanyuwangi. The target was general public visiting Blambangan Park Banyuwangi on that day. All students of Veterinary Medicine with the heads of other student association in PDD UNAIR Banyuwangi supported the event.
œThe event involved all students of Veterinary Medicine 2014, 2015 and 2016. They participated by distributing animal fodd product from the farm they manage, said Ainun.
Titis Dwi Laksono, a student of Veterinary Medicine 2015, added that the event was a form of students™ concern to nutritional issues, so improvement of natural production of animal products is needed to balance the instant products.
World Food Day is celebrated every October 16, the day of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) establishment in 1945. Hungary delegate, Ministry of Food and Agriculture Dr. Pal Romany was the initiator of World Food Day.
According to Zeni Prastika, a participant, said that the event was very interesting. The people were glad they got milk and eggs for free. Even some of them have their pictures taken in stand-icon, which was prepared beforehand to dress related to World Food Day.
I was happy as a participant as I got new knowledge on animal food products which are better than the instant product, said Zeni Prastika. (*)
