UNAIR students win Best Paper at ASIAN Young Leader Forum

UNAIR NEWS “ (UNAIR) students once again bring pride to the university by securing the Best Paper award in the Creative and Social Entrepreneurship subtheme at the ASIAN Young Leader Forum, held on March 18“20, 2026 at the University of Economics and Finance (UEF) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The two accomplished students, Rizqi Alfy Dzikria as team leader and Qisthy Fatiyah Ahmad from the Islamic Economics program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UNAIR, described the event as a meaningful first-time experience. œIt was very exciting, and we are truly grateful because everything was new for us, our first international forum, our first time abroad, and our first time presenting to an international audience. We are also proud to bring home this award for UNAIR, Dzikria said.

Introducing inSwift project

The team presented a paper titled inSwift: Blockchain-Driven Sharia Mobility for Inclusive and Sustainable Urban Transport. Dzikria explained that the idea was inspired by real challenges faced by online motorcycle taxi drivers in Indonesia. œThere are many issues, ranging from working hours to the platform service fees, he said.

The project was developed a strong intention to create a better system that empowers human resources more effectively. The team also incorporated blockchain, or distributed ledger technology, to strengthen the inSwift system. œBlockchain records data in a permanent, secure, and transparent way, making it nearly impossible to alter or manipulate, he added.

Valuable experience

Dzikria shared that the international forum offered a highly engaging experience. The first day featured an opening ceremony, followed by a cultural night and gala dinner. On the second day, participants presented their papers and visited CT Group Vietnam. The final day included a visit to HUTECH University, along with the closing ceremony and awarding session. œWe were also taken on a city bus tour around Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy the urban landscape, he said.

He further emphasized that one of the most important takeaways from the forum was building international connections. Dzikria noted that he and Fatiyah had the opportunity to meet students from various countries. œOne of the most memorable parts was meeting peers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, India, and the Philippines. We exchanged ideas and shared our respective cultures, he explained.
